Why A+E Networks Prefers AVOD to SVOD

Subscription video on-demand (SVOD) as a monetisation model works best for niche content, where a lack of scale means the economics of making the content ad-supported don’t really work says Ethan Heftman, SVP of Precision and Performance at A+E Networks. But for the majority of content, ad-supported video on-demand (AVOD) works best, and enables A+E to serve its clients in much the same way it has historically through its linear TV channels. In this interview, Heftman also discusses how A+E decides which platforms to put its over-the-top (OTT) apps on. Filmed at NVF Connect in London.
