OTT is Becoming an Increasingly Important Part of Vevo’s Revenue

Vevo has embraced OTT more than most publishers and their app can be found on most of the leading platforms. The music service is best known for having one of the top YouTube channels but Vevo — which is co-owned by Universal Music Group (UMG), Sony Music Entertainment, Abu Dhabi Media, Google and Warner Music Group (WMG) — has been steadily diversifying their portfolio of mobile, desktop and OTT apps. Now 10 percent of Vevo’s revenue comes from OTT, which is no small feat for a company with a primarily mobile-focused youth audience. Here Kevin McGurn, Chief Sales Officer for Vevo, discusses the role that OTT plays in Vevo’s business and how it allows them to go beyond the confines of traditional television. Filmed in San Sebastian, Spain, at TV Rise.
